BIKE MARATHON GRAN SASSO D'ITALIA

1) Date: Sunday, June 30,  2024

2) Meeting point and start place:
Fonte Cerreto di Assergi (AQ), (at the bottom of the cableway of Gran Sasso d’Italia)

3) Start time:
- Start at 06.30 a.m. extreme route
- Start at 07.00 a.m. medium route and short route

4) Routes: There are 3 possible routes for the Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia 2024.
- Short: km 53
- Medium: km 110
- Extreme: km 135

5) Starting grids:
First grid (red color): Reserved for those who wear the bib with a red background, who will challenge the 135 km Extreme route
Second grid (yellow color): Reserved for those wearing the bib with a yellow background, which will compete in the Medium course of 110 km
Third Grid (green color): Reserved to the ones wearing the bib with green background , racing on the Short route of 53 km

Participants who will start in a grid prior to the assigned one will be disqualified; Participants who during the race will follow a different route from the one chosen at the time of registration will be excluded from the classification and related prize-giving; The Organizers reserve the possibility to modify the start times and starting grids, depending on the actual closing or opening of the roads, as well as on other reasons linked to the organization of the event.

6) Choice of the route: The chosen route must be communicated at the time of the registration. It is still possible to modify such choice, to be communicated by e-mail to eventi@asete.it within and not later than the 5th of June, 2023.

7) Entry: The Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia is open to all adult male and female riders.
Professionals and cyclists of the Elite and U23 category who have a Professional or a Continental contract in 2020 are not admitted to the race. Professionals can be admitted exclusively for promotional purposes and subject to invitation by the Organizing Committee and may not take part in the ranking in any way.
Minors over 17 (seventeen) and cyclists older than 64 (sixty four), as well as amateurs cyclists with valid medical certificate of competitive fitness, may just enter for the short distance route (90 km) and cannot run the medium or the extreme courses.
The event is by invitation and the Organizing Committee may decide at any time whether to accept or not the enrolment or to exclude at any time an enrolled competitor, in case he/she may damage the image of the event. No registrations from participants who have been sanctioned by Sporting and/or Ordinary Justice, for a period of time longer than 6 (six) months, for reasons related to doping, will be accepted.
The cyclists who have not regularly registered for the race won’t be allowed to cycle together with the competitors. In the event of an accident, they will be persecuted in accordance to the Italian laws.

8) Eligibility::
The event is open to the categories set by the national FCI (Federazione Ciclistica Italiana) regulations which are as follows:

J / ELMT = JUNIOR and ELITE SPORT from 17 to 29
M1 = MASTER 1 30 to 34
M2 = MASTER 2 35 to 39
M3 = MASTER 3 40 to 44
M4 = MASTER 4 45 to 49
M5 = MASTER 5 50 to 54
M6 = MASTER 6 55 to 59
M7 = MASTER 7 60 to 64
M8 = MASTER 8 65 and over

J / EWS = JUNIOR and ELITE WOMEN SPORT 17 to 29
W1 = MASTER WOMEN 1 30 to 39
W2 = MASTER WOMEN 2 40 and over
AMATEURS CYCLISTS

Enrolment is allowed to FCI members and to members of all bodies and federations participating in the National Cycling Council, with valid registration for the current year. Non-members can enroll and participate to all the routes by subscribing a daily pass at the cost of Euro 10.00 (validity of insurance coverage limited to the duration of the sporting event).
Foreign athletes can enroll, only if they bring a valid registration card issued by their own Sport Federation. Foreign cyclists not holding such card, can also be entitled to participate by subscribing a day pass (Competitive or Touristic), showing a valid medical certificate of fitness for competitive activities, and undersigning an ethical declaration form.
PARTICIPANTS WITH THE TOURISTIC PASS CAN ONLY CYCLE THE SHORT ROUTE, otherwise they will be excluded from any official ranking. Furthermore, athletes with the Touristic Pass cannot by any means influence the competitive results of the event, and are subject to exclusion from the race, together with other athletes involved with or by such activity.
The Professionals can participate in the event only if invited by the Organizing Committee, and will not be classified. They cannot however influence the competitive results of the event through their behavior.
NOTE: By signing the registration form, each participant takes full responsibility for his / her behavior during and after the event and declares to have read, understood and approved all what stated in this Regulations and Conditions of Entry.
This subscription has the legal value of self-certification. The Organizing Committee also reserves the right not to accept undesired registrations and in such case the applicant will be notified before the event. The Organizing Committee also reserves the right to take legal actions for compensation of the possible damages of loss of image, generated by unethical behaviors of participants

9) Enrolment procedure:
The enrolment can be done exclusively online by clicking on the "Registrations" menu link

10) Participation fee:
Starting from 09:00 am on 01 Dicember 2023, the following registrations and quotas are made available:
€ 40 until 31.12.2023 or up to 200 registrants.
€ 50 until 30.04.2024 or up to 500 registrants.
€ 60 from 01.05.2024 or up to 1.500 registrants.

The closing date for entries is 24.00 on Thursday 27 June 2024.

+ € 10.00 for the security deposit in case of chip rental, € 5.00 will be refunded on arrival after returning the chip itself. Teams of athletes will benefit of 1 free registration every 10 members. The list of participants can be sent by email to info@roadbikemarathon.com . The participation fee includes the race bib, race pack; mechanical assistance (spare parts are not included), supplies, refreshments, pasta party on arrival, souvenir medal to the Finishers, free shower service, information about the participant ranking. 11) Replacements:
Replacements are possible within the same team among participants who have already completed their registration, by sending a written request by e-mail to info@roadbikemarathon.com Replacements can be made until 31st of may 2023. Any extensions of the closing date of the replacements will be notified on the website www.bikemarathongransasso.com

12) Withdrawals:
Those unable to participate are not entitled to any reimbursement of their fee. There is no provision to send race packs direct to home addresses. If a withdrawal is communicated to the e-mail address eventi@asete.it within 24.00 p.m. of the 5 June 2023, the participation fee can be considered valid for the event of the following year (2024). The entry deemed valid for the following year is nominal and cannot be transferred to third parties and is valid only for the year following any withdrawal. Subscription for the following year will not be considered valid until the withdrawing participant will send specific request to the e-mail address info@roadbikemarathon.com In the event of non-show, the paid fee will not be reimbursed. In case the participation fee for the following year is higher, the relevant difference has to be paid.

14) Registration check and race numbers distribution: Fonte Cerreto di Assergi (AQ), piazzale Marco Simoncelli, (at the bottom of the cableway of Gran Sasso d’Italia)
Saturday the 29th of June, 2024 from 2.30 p.m. to 07.30 p.m.
Sunday the 30th of June, 2024 from 05.00 a.m. to 06.30 a.m. (06.00 a.m extreme route)

The race number can be picked-up by showing the original of the registration card, even by other people, who have anyway to show relevant written proxy of the participant, and copy of his ID card or passport. Amateurs and tourist cyclist can show the original copy of their medical certificate.

15) Maximum time limit route closing:
Maximum transit time (gates closing): Piana di Campo Imperatore direction Campo Imperatore (70th km) 12.30 a.m. Who will pass after this time will be diverted to the finish line.

Arrival: 12.30 pm for all the routes. Beyond this time, the closure of the routes is not guaranteed. The times are valid for all regardless of the time of departure.

16) Maximum assistance times:
Refreshments, mechanical and medical assistance will be granted till the following times:
Castel del Monte 10.30 a.m.
Campo Imperatore 12.40 a.m.
Road closures times are set by the various local authorities and are guaranteed until the “race-end” car marked as “fine corsa” has passed.

17) Checkpoints:
There are 3 checkpoints. Pass through the automatic checkpoints is mandatory, both at the start and along the various routes. Who will start before the official start-time or will miss to pass through the checkpoint placed on the start line will not be considered in the race and will not be classified in the rank. Following the UCI and FCI Regulation, paragraph 1.3.010 and 12.1.013 bis “technological fraud”, the competition jury, with the technical support of the organization, is authorized to carry out random or systematic checks. Non-compliance or refusal to submit to the requested technical verification will result in immediate disqualification and reporting to the competent bodies.

18) Team and individual competition:
All the competitive and amateur cyclists will take part in the individual rankings. Rankings will be based on the time taken to complete the race, and not on the sequence of arrivals, except for the first three places of the absolute ranks, which will be established by the race judges according to FCI (Italian Cycling Federation) regulations. There will be a prize for the first 5 teams with the higher number of enrolled athletes. The official awards ceremony will take place at 01.00 p.m. in piazzale Fonte Cerreto and there will be awards for: the teams, the first 3 (three) of the absolute rank and the first 3 (three) of each category of the Extreme, Medium and Short Marathon routes. Prizes will be given only to those athletes that are present to the award ceremony.

19) Medical service:
The medical assistance includes the presence of ambulances and of medics and paramedic staff. Participants are responsible for covering any costs for their own transport to hospital.

20) Mobile and mechanical assistance:
Any kind of assistance given by private vehicles following the race is strictly forbidden, under penalty of disqualification of the athlete

21) Definition of the event:
The “Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia” is a large-scale event for touring cyclists.

22) Complaints:
Complaints must be sent to the race jury in accordance with the regulatory terms together with the relevant fee required under the FCP regulations.

23) Cancellation of the event:
Should the event be cancelled due to force majeure or to exceptional circumstances not in control by the Organization, the participation fee will not be reimbursed, nor be considered valid for the event of the following year (2021).

24) Variations:
The organization reserves the right to make changes to these rules at its own unquestionable discretion, at any time.
The website www.bikemarathongransasso.com is the official information tool of the event and therefore all official communications will be published there.

25) Rights and duties of the cyclists:
25.1 Fix the race number visibly to the handlebars and wear the race bib provided by the organization. These numbers cannot be modified or altered in any way.
25.2 Use approved and tied hard helmet for the duration of the race.
25.3 Comply with the traffic laws. The riders who are overtaken by the “race-end” car carrying the sign “fine corsa” can continue cycling along the routes while keeping and wearing both numbers. They must be aware, however, not to have any specific protection and that the stretch of road they are travelling will be open to traffic.
25.4 The first 3 (three) athletes of the absolute rank for each route have the obligation to attend the official award ceremony scheduled at 13.30 p.m.
25.5 Participants who will not enter their assigned grid 10 (ten) minutes before the start will automatically be placed in the last starting grid.
25.6 It is mandatory to be equipped with a tire repair kit, and it is highly recommended to bring along some spare garment and a waterproof cape in the event of bad weather.

The participant also undertakes not to leave his bicycle and personal belongings unattended. It is understood that the Organizing Committee and the Organization is by no means responsible nor liable for possible thefts or damages to the participants’ bicycles, personal belongings and any other means of transport.

26) Disqualification:
26.1 Participants wearing the race number or bib of another cyclist, giving his/her number to others, starting in a grid prior to the assigned one or committing any other serious fact which is detected by the Organization will be punished by disqualification from the event for one up to five years.
In the most serious cases the Organization reserves the right to apply a lifelong disqualification. The above actions will be taken by the organization.
26.2 Participants are asked not to throw litter on the roads, but to put it in the special containers at the refreshment points marked by a “start” and “end” of refreshments. Competitors throwing litter outside the marked areas will be disqualified and excluded from participation the following year.
26.3 Disqualifications imposed by F.C.I. during the year can lead to the exclusion from the starting list at any time at the unquestionable judgment of the Organization.
26.4 The Organization also reserves the right to take actions when unfair behavior tending to distort the order of arrival of the races is noted.
26.5 It is strictly forbidden, under penalty of disqualification or exclusion, the use of bicycles with any kind of support or aid of an electrical and / or electronic type.

27) Rules:
Regarding anything that is not covered by the rules of this “Conditions of Entry”, the ones issued by the National Amateur Cycling Commission of the F.C.I. (Italian Cycling Federation) will apply.

28) Signature:
By submitting the online application form, the competitor declares to hold a medical certificate of fitness for competitive activity, to hold a third party liability insurance, to have read and understood this regulation, accepting every point unconditionally and expressing consent to the use of his/her personal data. Use/processing of personal data means any operation or set of operations concerning the collection, the recording, the organization, the storage, the consulting, the processing, the modification, the selection, the extraction, the comparison, the use, the interconnection, the block, the communication, the diffusion, the cancellation and the destruction of the information, even if it is not recorded in a data base. Pursuant to art. 7 of the Italian law D.Lgs. 196/03, participants are entitled to exercise access to their personal data, as well as to obtain information on their information; request the cancellation, blockage, updating, correction, completion of the same and oppose its processing, by contacting the Data Controller – Organizing Committee of the Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia based in Martinsicuro (Te), viale Roma 276. By submitting the online entrance form, the participant also expresses consent so that any photos, videos, audio-and/or sound recordings of any type, produced during the Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia may be freely stored, reproduced, published and commercialized by the Organization, without the right to any compensation and/or indemnity by the participant. In particular, the participant explicitly authorizes the Organization, together with the relative media partners, to use the still or moving images that may portray him/her during his/her participation in the race, on all supports, including promotional and/or advertising material. The participant gives his/her consent for this material information to be made available to photographers and/or professional photography firms specially appointed by the organization to produce photographic services on the race.

Moreover, by sending the online registration form, the competitor, together with the representative of his team, self-certifies the inexistence of sporting, civil and / or penal sanctions, even if discounted, for facts related to doping and declares not to have hired - and not to take - substances included in the anti-doping list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) - https://www.wada-ama.org/en/what-we-do/the-prohibited-list.

Untruthful self-certifications will be prosecuted according to the law. In the event of a positive result at the anti-doping tests carried out in the Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia, or of positive results ascertained in the 6 (six) months following the Maratona, at other sporting events, the competitor is obliged to pay the Organizing Committee of the Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia, by way of compensation for the major damage to the image of the event, the sum of € 25.000,00 (euro twentyfivethousand/00). If the competitor belongs to a sports club, the latter will be jointly obliged to pay this fine. The sums that are collected by the Organizing Committee of the Maratona del Gran Sasso d’Italia, by way of compensation for damage to the image, will be donated in full to support young people’s sporting activities.

29) Timing - chip
The timing will be performed by a MySDAM Official Timer with "chips" based technology. Each participant must have a valid personal chip or a daily rented chip. Information and conditions on the use of the chips are published on the Endu website. Failure or incorrect use of the chip will result in non-inclusion in the ranking and the non-attribution of the time taken.

Usable chips:
Own My SDAM A-CHIP (round shape and green color);
own CHAMPIONCHIP YELLOW CHIP (round shape and yellow); MYSDAM DAILY CHIP for rental.
Participants must indicate the personal chip code on the registration form.
The chips and / or the relative qualifications can be purchased on the website www.mysdam.net or at the "Punto Chip" of the Competition.

The daily chip can only be rented at the Punto Chip of the Race at the cost of € 5.00 (five / 00 euros) plus € 5.00 (five / 00 euros) as a security deposit. The deposit of € 5.00 (five / 00 euros) will be given back upon return of the chip, which must be done at the Punto Chip within 15 minutes from the end of the race.

BlueChips and other types of chips not expressly indicated on the aforementioned website are not usable

Failure or incorrect use of the chip by the participant will result in the non-inclusion in the ranking and the non-attribution of the time taken.
